Mikey Way

So, Gerard Way said on his twitter (Gosh I'm ashamed to know this >.<) that he's going to collect paintings of Mikey for some undisclosed reason. I could have painted this traditionally, but I thought I'd have better luck getting it done and being happy with it going digital. The only problem with that is that I now need to print it. Gahbahdah.

So, Mikey! The main picture is not based on any one photo, though I did spend inordinate amounts of time studying his face in various pictures. (The angles on his face = crazy. They change in almost every picture. I thought I was gonna go nuts.) The five smaller portraits in the background were speed-painting done from shots of him on-stage, which I thought would be more fun than him just... sitting. Good golly, though, did I get sick of drawing basses. XD;; I love the bass, but still. It took me a few before I finally gave in and started using the line tool for the strings. Everything else is hand-painted.

I had to give him a hat, because I also abuse hats as a near-constant accessory. The glasses are kind of iconic for him, even though he got the eye surgery and doesn't need them, and the tie is based of the ones in the "I'm Not Okay" video. Because I like ties. I actually learned alot about Mikey while doing research for this painting. It was fun to watch stage videos and care about what someone other than Gerard was doing. XD;;

If any Mikey fans have suggestions, I'm totally open. I want it to look as much like him as possible, and the hair especially is kind of ticking me off, but I don't know how to fix it. In other words, critique welcome.
